Tuition fee: FREE (The course is open and free of charge for all students. Erasmus+ network students will get Erasmus+ BIP funding for the physical stay, applications for blended mobility funding are submitted via the home institution’s International Office. Students from other countries need to cover their travel, visa, accommodation, and other related costs.)

Topic: Data Analysis and Visualization in Power BI
Students will learn about chosen possibilities of data processing, data quality, data processing in table processor, pivot table as a basic tool, data sources, types of data, facts, dimensions. Some data stories will be used for presentation of basic functions of Power BI tool. Students will run special datasets, will learn how to manage data in Power Query Editor in M language, how to use DAX language. how to create a functional data model and how to use possibilities of visualisation data in power BI, how to share dashboards in Power BI service or in MS Fabric. By completing this BIP the student will acquire the basic knowledge and skills to use the Power BI tool, be able to identify data sources, understand the ETL/ELT process, create a data model, and design a BI solution using tool in a specific case.
- Overview of Power BI: Components and architecture (Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, Power BI Mobile)
- Installation and setup of Power BI Desktop
- Data import methods: Connecting to various data sources, ETL/ELT
- Basic data loading and transformation with Power Query, M Language
- Facts, dimensions
- Understanding data modeling basics: Tables, relationships, and data types
- Creating relationships between tables in Power BI
- Visualization options: Charts, tables, and maps
- Designing dashboards and reports
- Introduction to DAX (Data Analysis Expressions)
- Creating calculated columns and measures
- Creating visualizations using sample datasets
- Customizing visuals: Formatting, colors, and interactive elements
- Filters and slicers for interactivity
- Bookmarks for storytelling in reports
- Publishing reports to the Power BI Service
- Sharing reports and dashboards
- Data refresh and scheduled updates
- Group project: Analyzing a given dataset to create a comprehensive Power BI report
- Presentation of findings and insights from the analysis
- Q&A session, additional resources for learning Power BI, ongoing projects, or real-world applications
Course format: Blended intensive program
Blended intensive program (30th June - 4th July 2025 in Bratislava, 14th - 18th July 2025 online)
• At least 3 higher education institutions (HEI) from 3 Erasmus+ universities need to participate, and an inter-institutional agreement is needed before the mobilities are realized.
• Faculty of Management, Comenius University is the coordinating and receiving partner, other institutions are sending institutions.
• The physical activity will take place in Bratislava form 30th June to 4th July 2025, followed by the virtual part form 14th July to 18th July 2025.
• We are planning to welcome 20 students from the Erasmus+ countries from at least 2 Erasmus+ universities. The mobility for those students will be organized as student BIP mobility within the Erasmus+ framework.
• Other partnering universities are welcome to nominate their students directly to zuzana.kovacicovauniba.sk.
• The extent of the course is 5 ECTS which will be recognized by the sending institution based on students learning agreement.
