Management
The Faculty of Management was established in 1991, marking its place in Slovakia's higher education history as the first faculty specializing in management education. With extensive support from international universities such as Carnegie Mellon University, University of Pittsburgh, and Cornell University, the faculty pioneered management education in the region. From 1996, the faculty hosted the Weekend Executive Master of Business Administration (WEMBA), a specialized program developed in collaboration with the Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business, University of Pittsburgh, USA. These partnerships, among others, have been instrumental in shaping our undergraduate and graduate programs, allowing students to tailor their study trajectories.
The Faculty of Management has always been proactive in sending faculty members for international fellowships and encouraging participation in international conferences and projects. Consequently, the faculty offers its management program in English across all three levels of study (bachelor's, master's, and doctoral). This English-taught program attracts students from Slovakia, EU countries, as well as Asia and Africa.
For nearly 25 years, the faculty has provided an external study program in management. This format makes higher education accessible to all, regardless of distance, work commitments, family responsibilities, or other barriers. Our online study at FM UK employs a blended approach, combining direct and distance learning methods. Direct teaching involves real-time interaction between teachers and students using online tools like Microsoft Teams. This method ensures direct audio-visual transmission, real-time interaction, discussions, and team projects under the direct supervision of the instructor. Online higher education is a potent tool in addressing income inequality and supporting disadvantaged groups, including parents, caregivers, entrepreneurs in intensive businesses, and those in regions without direct access to higher education. The standalone master's program is also suitable for graduates from other faculties or as supplementary economic and managerial studies for master's or engineering graduates from other disciplines.
