International Lean Six Sigma Conference 2026

From 8 to 10 September 2026, the Faculty of Management, Comenius University Bratislava hosted the international professional conference International Lean Six Sigma Conference 2026, co-organised by the Faculty together with the International Lean Six Sigma Institute (ILSSI), Cambridge, UK. The conference was preceded by an informal welcome evening for international guests on 7 September.

The conference brought to Bratislava an international community of experts from both academia and business. More than 140 participants from 26 countries registered for the event, including managers, professionals in operational excellence and process improvement, Lean Six Sigma practitioners, consultants, researchers, and academics.

The conference was officially opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Management, Prof. Mgr. Peter Štarchoň, PhD. The professional programme over the following days included keynote presentations, panel discussions, and practical workshops focusing primarily on Lean Six Sigma, operational excellence, process management, quality, innovation, digital transformation, and the use of artificial intelligence in management and process improvement. Experts from various countries and sectors shared their experience and knowledge, creating a platform for connecting academic insights with practical organisational experience.
The programme also included networking and social activities. Participants had the opportunity to continue both professional and informal discussions during a social evening at Moyzes Hall. The final part of the programme was a professional visit to the Volkswagen Slovakia plant in Bratislava, which gave participants an opportunity to see the application of process management and continuous improvement principles directly in an industrial setting.
The organisation of the conference on behalf of the Faculty of Management, Comenius University Bratislava was led primarily by Assoc. Prof. Mgr. Peter Madzík, PhD., Assoc. Prof. PhDr. Lukáš Copuš, PhD., and Prof. Ing. Ján Papula, PhD. However, the successful delivery of the event would not have been possible without the direct and indirect involvement of many other members of the Faculty’s staff. We would therefore like to thank all colleagues who contributed to the preparation, organisational support, and smooth running of the conference for their professionalism, willingness, and cooperation.

Hosting an event with such strong international participation also demonstrated the potential of the Faculty of Management, Comenius University Bratislava to provide a platform for major professional events and to connect the academic environment with managerial practice and the international professional community.
The conference received financial support from EU NextGenerationEU through the Recovery and Resilience Plan of the Slovak Republic, within the project Smart Transformation and Innovation Consortium Slovakia (STICS), No. 09I02-03-V01-00011
and by project VEGA 1/0113/24 Emerging digital technologies and their influence on elimination of supply chain vulnerability—Building lean, agile, resilient and green supply chains in the age of unpredictable disruptive events.
