Hronec in Bratislava (1967 – 1969) and at Atlantic College (1969 – 1971). He  graduated with honours (summa cum laude) from the Faculty of Natural Sciences, (1971 – 1976) in mathematics. He is employed at Comenius since August 1976. From September 1976 he started to teach Mathematic for students of Physics at the Department of Mathematical Analysis, Faculty of Natural Sciences, Comenius University, later Department of Applied Mathematics, Faculty of Mathematics and Physics as an assistant professor, then associate professor. He was later teaching also  courses in mathematics for students of natural sciences, linear algebra, seminar in functional analysis, mathematical analysis, fractal geometry. He had a long-term internships at the University of Florence (Istituto Matematico Ulysse Dini) and at the Mathematical Institute of the University of Oxford. Then he held a research position in the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (1984 – 1989, where he worked on research projects in functional integrals, numerical modelling of magnetic fields, etc.).

In 1991, when the Faculty of Management was established, he relocated to this newly established faculty, where he founded  and worked as the head of the Department of Information Systems (1993 – 2021). He built computer laboratories, an information technology centre and an online education centre at the faculty. At the Faculty of Mathematics , Physics and Informatics he initiated a successful study program in mathematics – management. At the Faculty of Management, as dean, he accredited and opened the study program Entrepreneurship and the study program Management in English language. During his tenure as Dean of the Faculty of Management, the faculty rose from an average position among faculties of arts and social sciences to the second place in the evaluation as an excellent scientific workplace.

The courses he developed at the Faculty of Management were predominantly in information and communication technologies and in management information systems. All courses were in Slovak and English languages: e.g.: computer science for managers, application software for management (EXCEL, MS Project, etc….), information systems management, project management, data processing (for management and decision-making), e-business and e-marketing, knowledge management, but also modelling of economic processes with the use of Wolfram Mathematica in English for Erasmus students and students studying management in English language.

He also lectured as a visiting professor at University of Pittsburgh, at long-term internship at Cornell University, long-term Tempus internships in Gent, Groningen, Udine, and Erasmus in Brno, Valencia and Thessaloniki,…. He also lectured at the MBA program organized together with the University of Pittsburgh (WEMBA project USAID) and later with Webster University. During approximately thirty-five years at the Faculty of Management, he has educated over forty successful doctoral students. He is the author and co-author of more than 200 scientific and professional publications, co-author of university lecture notes, textbooks and monographs. His notable scientific result in the field of functional analysis is cited worldwide as the Gregus Fixed Point Theorem. Other scientific activities include projects, co-organizing and active participation in scientific events and conferences at home and abroad.

Currently he is doing research mainly in quantitative methods and their use in economics and managerial decision-making, project management and information systems management.

He is a member of the Otakar Borůvka Society (Společnost Otakara Borůvky) and a member of BPUG Slovakia. He holds an instructor canoeing certificate and is a member of The Surf Life Saving Association of Great Britain, a skiing coach and a member of the FAMA – the Faculty Sporting Club ....
