The inauguration of the Taiwan Studies Center

Comenius University in Bratislava officially inaugurated the Taiwan Studies Center today, located at the Faculty of Management. This significant event marks an important step in promoting academic and cultural cooperation between Taiwan and Slovakia.
The ceremonial program was opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Management, Prof. Peter Štarchoň, who welcomed all the guests. Among the distinguished participants was the Vice-Rector of Comenius University, Assoc. Prof. Radomír Masaryk, who expressed his support for this new academic initiative.
The Taiwan Studies Center was established thanks to financial support from Taiwan’s Ministry of Education.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by several prominent figures, including His Excellency François Chihchung Wu, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Taiwan, and Ambassador Nan-Yang Lee from the Taipei Representative Office in Bratislava. Their presence underscored the significance of this event in fostering international relations.
The center will serve as a platform for academic research and cultural exchange. Through initiatives such as a lecture series on Taiwan and the Taiwan Film Weekend, it will provide students, researchers, and the public with opportunities to explore Taiwan’s rich history and culture, as well as its vital role in the global community.
Significant credit for the establishment of the center goes to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sascha Klotzbücher, who will oversee its activities. "We believe the center will become a dynamic space for inspiration and collaboration," added the Dean of the Faculty of Management, Prof. Peter Štarchoň.
With this step, Comenius University in Bratislava emphasizes its commitment to advancing international cooperation and academic excellence. The Taiwan Studies Center will act as a bridge between Slovakia and Taiwan, contributing to mutual understanding and strengthening both cultural and academic ties.
